Support the Center for Public Safety

Although evolving, there are immediate funding opportunities within the Center for Public Safety and Justice to accomplish its strategic vision and secure its funding in perpetuity so that the Center can serve as a beacon of high-quality public safety education, research, and engagement at UVA, in the Commonwealth and in the Nation.

Philanthropy is crucial for elevating our work. Significant advancements occur when we can attract and retain top-tier faculty with extensive experience in the public safety sector. Endowed positions and current-use gifts dedicated to faculty enable us to achieve this goal. Our commitment to access and affordability for our students are strengthened through endowed fellowships. Furthermore, a key aspect of the Center’s influence and commitment to innovative practices is our ability to engage with public safety leaders globally through conferences and speaking engagements.

For more information on how you or your organization can make an impact through philanthropy, please contact our Director of Development, Jessica Robertson, at jrobertson@virginia.edu or (434) 962-1744.

Annual Funds:

Making a gift to one of our annual funds is a great way to make an immediate impact to support the ongoing annual needs of the Center. Below, are two funds that support a broad scope of our work.

The Center welcomes the exploration of corporate giving interests in support of our public engagement programs, which will have recognition opportunities based on varying levels of support.

  • UVA Public Safety & Justice Futures Fund: Supports the work of Public Safety & Justice faculty, staff, students, and alumni in education, training, networking, professional development, research, and related communities of practice.
  • UVA Women in Public Safety Leadership Opportunity Fund: Supports the advancement of women and other underrepresented groups in leadership development in policing and related fields through programming and educational opportunities. Participation in programs supported by the fund will not be restricted to women (or based on other factors that may violate applicable law).
